Hi! I’m Mercedes.
I’m a User Experience Designer.
I am an optimistic team player who loves working through design problems. In my work I center creative pragmatism, accessibility, and iteration.
Experience
UX Designer
In my time at Fuzzy Math, I created and delivered design assets at all part of the design process, from research to high fidelity design.
I worked on a wide range of projects from Design System creation to novel product design to SaaS onboarding user flows and research to enterprise product re-design and mentor UX Design interns.
Working as a consultant was a fulfilling way to leverage and build on my strong background in working with and explaining design decisions to diverse stakeholders (from c-suite to technician), and working within constraints (budget, time, technology).

Fuzzy Math is a UX Design consultancy, collaborating remotely across 4 time zones to provide product design and strategy services for b2b, Enterprise, Saas, healthcare and nonprofit companies, working with companies like Wells Fargo, SRAM, Poetry Foundation and TaxAct
My gold stars
My colleagues have described me as-
“a great communicator and collaborator both internally and client facing.”
and
“thoughtful in her approach to each new problem, thinking through all aspects (such as accessibility) to execute designs in complex ecosystems.”
I communicate effectively with remote coworkers and stakeholders across 4 timezones.
Received feedback from a client on wireframe concept delivery noting that-
“Mercedes’ designs clearly show that I understand what the company does, and the direction they want to go in.”
I also work with nonprofits to develop digital product strategies.
Through research, strategy, and collaborative planning, I help nonprofits visualize the future and develop a realistic path forward.
I’ve helped nonprofits solve problems like -
develop a solid understanding of their website’s UX, and develop a strategy to guide decisions for future website improvements
craft a digital experience for users, donors, or volunteers
increase donation conversions
website design for low bandwidth situations
website design for neurodivergent/neuro-atypical users
My passion for driving social change and positively impacting communities drives my love for working with nonprofits. With a background in nonprofit tech, I bring a unique perspective and firsthand experience that uniquely positions me to provide valuable assistance.
About
I am a Seattle-based UX / Product Designer with a focus on web design, product strategy, and user experience design.
My professional experience in nonprofit (donor development / volunteer recruitment), retail (visual merchandising), and politics (campaigns, outreach, constituent services) informs the way I approach solution generation and consensus building.
My Values
Optimism
A positive, inquisitive attitude goes a long way, especially when things get hard, or plans change.
Pragmatism
I am a realist - I understand the most effective designs are the ones that can get stakeholder buy in and that have a solid foundation for future iteration.
Collaboration
I consistently foster a collaborative environment where no idea is too precious to share and iterate on together.
